Can you move like an elephant? Bringing immersive play to the next level!

We like to engage in R & D projects to explore the potential of up-and-coming technology. We’ve been awarded funding by XR Stories to look at the potential of motion tracking and gesture control for kids through the Awesome Animals challenging children to impersonate their favourite animals.

Working in partnership with leading animation studio Fettle, to bring 2D animation to life through a multi sensory on-screen safari adventure.

The project is underpinned by child-centred research from the University of Sheffield School of Education and the University of Bradford’s School of Media, Design and Technology, exploring the potential for learning through play, expression and movement in this area.

This project provides a unique opportunity to progress beyond touch to entirely touchfree based interactions. This combines with similar hands free facial tracking projects we have developed with Glasgow Science Centre.

As a research project, we adopted an agile and iterative approach, focused around incremental development and heavy user testing with children, to define a set of specifications and best practices to take the project forward - all captured in a final report.
